Trailhead Improvement Project

The Village of Grafton Seeks Comments on Trailhead Improvement Project

The Village of Grafton in cooperation with the Ohio Department of Transportation is proposing improvements to the Indian Hollow Trailhead (Wayne Shipman Memorial Trailhead). The Wayne Shipman Memorial Trailhead is located directly north of the intersection of State Route 57 and Parson Road, inside the Village limits. Trailhead improvements include the construction of new sidewalks, curbs, pavement repairs, pavement striping, wheel stops, landscaping, concrete benches, new signage, and a new trail map kiosk. This project also includes the installation of 6 way-finding signs along SR-57 within the Village of Grafton.

All work will occur within existing village of Grafton owned right-of-way and on existing trailhead easements. This project does not require a detour for vehicular traffic along SR-57 but will require the temporary closure of the Wayne Shipman Memorial Trailhead. The trailhead will be closed for no longer than 30 days while paving and other construction activities occur. The Wayne Shipman Memorial Trail will remain open throughout construction and can be accessed to the west from Sheldon Woods which is part of the Indian Hollow Reservation.

Construction is anticipated to begin August 2027, and last approximately 120 days.

Written comments about the proposed project may be mailed to Andrew Lipian, Village Administrator, 960 Main Street Grafton, OH 44044. You can also contact the Village by telephone (440)-926-2401 or by email at alipian@villageofgrafton.org.
