Answering Electric Customer Concerns:  The POWER COST ADJUSTMENT rate hike was a result of the temporary elevated cost of electric due to the LOAD on the power grid in recent months.  This was not isolated to Grafton but a region-wide increase directly related to the cost to produce the additional power demand during this time, primarily due to the consistent high temperatures in excess of 90-degrees resulting in added use of air-conditioning and fans during this time.  Short term forecasts show August providing some of the same.  The Power Cost Adjustment has been in place for nearly 15-years, this is NOT a new fee.  Past years, the village has occasionally replied to like-claims, mostly during like-HOT months of July and few during the past August months.   As of the date of this notice, Northeast Ohio has experienced 16 days of 90 plus degrees with early August predicting more.  Only a few days during the same period experienced days less than 80-degrees.  Thank you understand this increase was based on needed demand.      Joe Price, Administrator
